About the play
Would Be a Shame if the Plants Withered (or Rearranging the Furniture) is a drama that offers a microscopic look inside the breakdown of a romantic relationship, exploring the crisis that emerges when one of the characters is unable to remember what, in the eyes of the other, was the most significant event of their shared history, set in a foreign land.
The play delves into the failed attempts at communication, in the effort to articulate a story that can not only be told but also embraced as one's own. It is a portrait of the fissures in language and the challenges we face in trying to narrate our relationships, even when words seem insufficient.
Martinić constructs a genuine, recognizable world far removed from our digital addictions and information overload. It's a world where honesty and openness are painfully frank; devoid of technology. Director Guillermo Cacace ensures a subtle staging that supports the themes and emotions, aiming to depict exceptional intimacy, immersing the viewer in a profound experience, including the discomfort of witnessing such private scenes.
Award for best contemporary play at the 34th Marulićevi Dani Festival (Split, Croatia).

Testimonials
The play is grand in its simplicity as a performance. The actors take you on an emotional rollercoaster and the sober decor gives them all the room for it. Sad, beautiful, and impressive at the same time! — Bianca Franzen
The play is very sincere, with beautiful text, dramatic, but the very accurate performances give room for humor. It's a play to enjoy more than once! — Claribel Castillo
I was an intrusive fly on that bed. I shared their intimacy to the point of tears. They made me feel so much a part of the story that I needed to hug them too. Don't miss it! — Romina Rizzi
Yesterday's performance was very beautifully played and felt really raw and authentic. You are very talented and skilled actors. Thanks for taking us along for the wonderful journey. — Shirley Blake
I really felt in me the story from the play — it's honest, intimate, emotional and easy to create a connection with. The magic of the acting was that it seemed like no acting at all, just a window into two people's life. Great script and even greater performance! — Nicolás Lanaro
Silences are more important than dialogues in many theater scenes, and in this piece, the silences become even more significant as they place the spectator in an uncomfortable situation upon realizing that you are peering into a scene that is ordinarily extraordinary. — Pedro Seguí
Although the theme can be very sad and dramatic, this work approaches it with transparency and some irony, making the play engaging and enjoyable, without trivializing it. A small, close public and indirect interaction with the audience makes us all part of the scene, allowing the actors to convey their emotions clearly and directly. — Pablo Estévez
It was a wonderful show. So moving. Please bring it to Amsterdam. — Tamara Richards
It was an impressive performance! I enjoyed your voice and emotions! And the song too! The song is still spinning in my head! — Akiko Habuka
It is the message behind the words that moves the audience. — Willem Brand
